Trincea delle Frasche (trench of the leafy boughs) was one of the most difficult obstacles the Italian soldiers met in their way to the assault of mount San Michele. The trench was dug by the Absburgic army in the early months of war and was conquered by the Italians at the end of 1915. Its name was due to the military craftiness of the Hungarian soldiers, who used leafy boughs to conceal it from the surveillance aircraft. After its conquest, the Italians fortified it anew, and used it from autumn 1916 and the early months of 1917.
