Two respirometer-barostat ensembles were employed for the first three months, and four for the remaining five months. These were maintained in darkness in a photo- graphic darkroom about 60 feet away from the place of the potato study, but simi- larly on the ground floor of Cresap Biological Laboratory, a three-story steel and mortar building. The relationship between average % noon deviation in O2-consumption in the potato from linear daily trend and month of year during the 25-month study. Standard errors of means are shown. RESULTS During the period, Feb. 1, 1956 through Feb. the only days omitted were May 25, the month July, 1956, and October 4, 1957. The form of the mean daily deviation from the daily mean rate, is shown, with the standard values, in the solid-line curve of Figure 1, A. quite comparable in size.
