Mars rover Opportunity, March 2014. Opportunity is a NASA Mars Exploration Rover (MER). It landed on Mars on 24 January 2004. Here, winds on Mars have cleaned much of the accumulated dust from the rover's solar panels. This montage was obtained using images from Opportunity's panoramic camera (Pancam) from 22 to 24 March 2014. Opportunity has been operating on Mars for over 3600 Martian days (sols). It has set a record for distances travelled on another world: over 40 kilometres by July 2014.
