Sultan Ahmed Mosque and Kulliyah (Blue Mosque, 1617). This mosque is the only mosque that was originally built with six minarets. As its walls are adorned with world famous Iznik tiles, it is known as the "Blue Mosque" all over the world. It's architect was Sedefkar Mehmet Aga. Its minber (or pulpit) is decorated with mother of pearl while its interior walls and columns up to the second storey windows are sheathed with the richest tiles in various types. Two minarets, each with two balconies and four minarets found on the corners of the mosque each having three balconies, are 60 m high. The 260 windows flood with light the interior space, which is covered by a dome 33,6 m in diameter and 43 m high. The high position of courtyard dominates the other buildings.
