A flowering plant of caper (Capparis spinosa) grown on a brick and stone wall, Tuscany, Italy

Castagneto Carducci is a small village on the top of the hill, on which dominates the Castle of the Counts of Gherardesca, once surrounded by walls of which survives the front facing the sea. Around the Castle, whose construction probably dates back to the year 1000, the urban center developed according to a scheme of concentric rings that give life to a system of roads, alleys and squares.
