Horizontal wide angle view of the canal at Carmersstraat and the traditional gabled buildings on a sunny day.

Horizontal wide angle view on a bright sunny spring day of the one of the many picturesque bridges that cross the canal at Carmersstraat, traditional gabled buildings line the canals and waterways characteristic of the old city of Bruges. A gable is the triangular portion of a wall between the lines of a sloping roof. Characteristic of gabled buildings in Belgium and Netherlands is the crow-stepped gable, which, as the name suggests, is where the stone work is stacked in a step pattern above the roof as a decoration.
