Small poinsettias are going rapidly, the large ones being already sold out. Small heather is quite popu- lar, and azaleas, still in fair supply, move well for the midwinter season. Potted ferns of all sizes do well. Various No!tes. While the azaleas imported for the holidays arrived rather late on the Pa- cific coast, everything received by the San Francisco buyers was accepted and disposed of. More time was required, however, to get the stock to ILcs An- geles by rail. A local warehouse con- cern is now holding, on behalf of east- ern brokers, shipments of Belgian stock amounting to over 1,000 plants, which were rejected by the consignees in the south and sent to San Francisco. They reached here in rather poor shape and several nurserymefl who have been asked to bid on them have declined. It appears as if the plants are not wanted by anybody in this immediate vicinity, though it may be possible to find a buyer in some other part of the state. The MacRorie-McLaren Co. is cut- ting many orchids, which, with other flowers scarce, are in good demand. Joseph Proietti, of San Lorenzo, has a good-sized crop of daffodils and other early bulbous stock due in a
