The Venetian Resort, on the site of the Sands Hotel (1952-96) lies between Harrah's and the Palazzo, on the east side of Las Vegas Boulevard South (the Las Vegas Strip). The resort features life-like replicas of the Doge's Palace, , St. Mark's Campanile, Rialto Bridge and Gondola rides (seen here). The building of the Venetian began in 1997 and the resort opened in 1999, at a cost of $ billion. making it one of the most expensive resorts of its king in the world. The production show 'Phantom' ran 2006-12.
