This name isnot descriptive but was retained for the present by tlie Russian No-menclature Commission. Fruit large, roundish, somewhat tapering, sometimes angular;surface yellow, with dark crimson splashes, mixed and marbled; dotslarge, gra3ish white, distinct; cavity shallow, wide, with radiatingpatch of russet; stem medium; liasin sliallow, narrow, corrugated;calvx half open. Calyx tube funnel-shaped; stamens median; fleshvellowish white, pleasant subacid, good. Late fall, between Olden-burg and Longfield. 92 SYSTEMATIC POMOLOGY. Golding (American Golden Pippin).—An old American variety;tree of strong frrowth with round spreading top, not an early bearer,but very productive with age.
