BIBB rescue of the Bermuda Sky Queen. A motor surfboat from the Coast Guard ocean station vessel BIBB goes to the aid of the flying boat Bermuda Sky Queen, ditched not far away from the cutter in mid-Atlantic. Successful removal of the 62 passengers and 7 crew members was accomplished by means of 15-person rafts passed over lines shot from the motor surfboat and a Monomoy surfboat. These boats towed the rafts to the BIBB. The BIBB was patrolling ocean(weather) station "Charlie" in mid-North Atlantic, 809 miles from Argentia, Newfoundland, when the plane ditched in the vicinity.
