If the tongue is bent abruptlydownward or pounded down with a hammer, a tongue may be broken, but this isinvariably the result of bad practice. If a tongue for any reason should break off,there are plenty left to securely fasten the fence, or a short piece of wire placedaround the post will answer every purpose.
