The decorations of the Audiencias ('Audience rooms')
Photos taken at Chan Chan near Trujillo (Peru) in April 2016. The adobe city of Chan Chan was the capital of the Chimú civilization, stretching from approximately 850 AD to 1470 when it was overtaken by the Inca. The Spanish pillaged the previously rich city and little remains. The city now battles the impacts of climate change in an otherwise very dry desert.
