Grows rather wide and stocky, measuring 3 to 4 inches in length, and stump-rooted. On account of its thick- ness it frequently reaches 2 lbs. in weight and con- sequently is much used by farmers for stock feeding purposes. It is a deep orange in color. This is the long carrot that grows rather rapidly, gradually tapering in shape, but is free from small rootlets. It is a good keeper and excellent for winter use. Yery handsome, straight, smooth roots of bright orange color, frequently 12 inches long and 3 inches in diameter at the neck. No better carrot for all round table use or field culture. Stock Carrots These are the carrots that are good keepers, and grow to rather a large size and are excellent for winter feeding for stock.
