Paris, France - 19 September 2018 The Louvre of Paris, or the Muse du Louvre, to give it its proper name, is the world's largest art museum. It started off as the extravagant and overblown Palace of King Louis XIV, but found a higher purpose as a museum after the Revolution. I. 's provocative and controversial modern glass pyramid was added in 1989, in what is now seen as an architectural masterstroke.
