Gull-billed tern (Sterna nilotica) gets weighed. Biologists contracted by the FWS regularly collect data from the several species of terns on the refuge. Here, a gull-billed tern is getting weighed, will have its wings measured, and will be banded. Gull-billed terns have been a candidate species for listing, but recently have been taken off the list due to their successful comeback in recent years. They have been seen preying on other hatchling plovers and terns.
