Mount Sugarloaf is viewed from the summit of Mount Leura and is part of a large volcanic complex known as the Leura Maar which was formed more than 20,000 years ago by a series of volcanic eruption. It is located in the third largest volcanic plain in the world. The view is from Mount Leura and the reserve is part of Kanawinka Geopark.
