Buckingham Water Gate, Strand, Westminster, London, 1830. The gate was built in 1626 for the Duke of Buckingham. It marks the old northern bank of the wider, shallower River Thames before the Embankment was built, and now stands in Embankment Gardens, several yards from the water.
