Jaundice. 81-year-old man's hand (bottom) exhibiting jaundice as a result of taking the antibiotic Augmentin to treat a sinus infection. A normal person's hand is seen at top for comparison. Jaundice is a condition in which the skin and eyes are discoloured due to the deposition of excess bilirubin (pigment) in skin tissues. Jaundice is not a disease in itself, but is a symptom of many disorders of the liver and biliary system. Treatment is aimed at correcting the underlying cause.
