Chinstrap penguins (Pygoscelis antarctica) on brash ice (floating ice fragments). Chinstrap penguins live and breed in large colonies. They stand about 70 centimetres tall and weigh about to 5 kilograms. Their main predator is the leopard seal. Chicks and eggs are preyed on by sheathbills and brown skuas. Chinstrap penguins feed mainly on krill and small fish. They inhabit the Antarctic peninsula and nearby islands, and are sometimes found on large icebergs in the open ocean.
