Swallowed objects in oesophagus. Coloured X-ray of two objects (safety pins) lodged in the oesophagus of a woman. In this chest view, one of the swallowed objects is seen in the neck region (at top) of the oesophagus, and the other in the region of the heart (centre). This was a case of self inflicted punishment where the patient swallowed the pins deliberately. They were successfully closed and removed without causing any serious harm. Bones of the ribcage, shoulder, and neck are visible.
