The kampongs of Javaneseof the lower classes are scattered here and there alongnarrow paths which open on the great avenues, or evenalong the sides of the avenues themselves; their housesare of wood and bamboo, thatched with ply various trades, but especially those of thegoldsmith and the saddler, their saddlery being especiallyfamous.
