Romanians and environmentalists in London held a candlelit protest and die-in at Old Palace Yard outside the Houses of Parliament. The protest was held as part of an ongoing campaign to stop plans to create a vast opencast mine in the picturesque Rosia Montana area of Transylvania. The mine will use large quantities of cyanide in its process, causing danger to the environment. The protesters are also concerned that ancient mining galleries from Roman times will be destroyed and that four mountains and three villages will be leveled.
