Perhaps your start will be made with so small a number ofbirds that you will not have to cover more than one wall ofyour squab house with nest boxes. Cover one wall, or twowalls, or three walls, whichever the occasion demands. Havea lot of spare boxes, and let the breeding pairs choose where. BEST NEST BOX CONSTRUCTION. ^ When the nest boxes are built of lumber (one-half an inch or five-eighths of aninch thick) the above construction should be emploved. The bottoms are notnailed, but slide in on cleats, as shown. The result is a sliding shelf. This shelfmay be pulled out at cleaning time and a better and quicker job of cleaning done The nest bowls may be screwed directly to the bottoms of the above nest boxesIf that IS done, it will not be necessary to screw the nest bowls to blocks of woodto give them stability. An extra number of nest boxes may be usefulto you to accommodate the young birds raised to breedingage from the old birds which you buy of us, if you intend toraise your squabs to breeding age.
