Title page of Sphaera Mundi (1552). This book was written by the French mathematician and cartographer Oronce Fine (1494-1555). Fine was a writer of many books popularising mathematics and astronomy. Sphaera Mundi (Sphere of the World) was an astronomy textbook with woodcut illustrations by Fine. It was first published in 1542, and this is the title page of the 1552 edition. The text is in Latin, and includes the title and description (top) followed by the author's name and profession. Publication details are at bottom, including the name of the publisher, the year of publication, and where the book was published.
