Crocus cartwrightianus is growing on the rocks at the edges of the Lasithi plateau at the east of Crete. This crocus is the ancestor of the saffron crocus Der Cartwright-Krokus blüht in Felsspaltenin am Rand der Lasithi-Ebene im Osten von Kreta. Diese Art ist der Vorfahre des Safran-Krokuks.
