Side view of LMS Coronation Class 4-6-2 steam locomotive no 46233 Duchess of Sutherland hauling the Royal Scot excursion from Milton Keynes to Carlisle and return. The train was steam hauled on the West Coast Mainline from Crewe to Carlisle and back via Shap by the preserved loco with diesel haulage for the rest of the journey. The photo is taken between Bolton-le-Sands and Hest Bank just to the North of Lancaster.
