Spider mites of this family often introduce diseases through feeding or by weak- ening the plants. Look for webbing on the un- derside of the leaves. Habitat: Spider mites attack many crops in- cluding: alfalfa, beans, peas, sugarbeets, pota- toes, ornamentals, fruit trees, cereal, and corn. Control: Treatment may be justified when 25% of the leaves show damage in early summer and 50% in midsummer. However, control is ques- tionable with 75-100% leaf damage after Au- gust 15. 101.
