This system, withthe electric lights supplied by the same plant, insures comfortand safety to students. Health is also safeguarded by the newsystem of water works and sewerage. Both have been installed in all the buildings. The water works supply an abundance of pure,filtered water, and the sewers have been most carefully and scientific-ally improve-ments make pos-sible a thoroughsystem of bathsand perfect sani-tation. Two morebuildings are nowin process ofconstruction: theYoung MensChristian Asso-ciation Buildingand the William. Preston Byrmm, Jr., Gymnasium,readv for use in the Fall of 1904. Both will be completed and Enrollment The largest in thehistory of theinstitution. Theattendance for the present year will reachthe large total of more than 600. Of this numberover 400 are enrolled in the Academic Department. In this respectthe University ofNorth Carolinastands amongthe foremostsouthern educati-onal institutions. Increase ofthe Faculty New departmentsand professors; addi-tional instructorsand assistants; newscientific apparatus. During the lastthree years im-portant additionshave been made to the Faculty, which now numbers 66 members, of whom 35 are of professorial
