Moor Platt, Chorley Old Road, Horwich, Bolton, c1860s. A group of women and children playing croquet on the lawn in front of Moor Platt. The house, dating from the early 19th century, was demolished following a fire in the 1920s. It was built for Joseph Ridgway, the son of the founder of the local bleachworks, and passed through his heirs to the Howarth family. A later house, also known as Moor Platt now occupies the site.
