The southward movement of the peripheral male group 26 km from Point Cayucos to Point Buchon (Figure 1) in January 1973, skipped for a short period, the Pismo clam bearing beaches around Morro Bay, including Atascadero Beach. Sea otters, whether from the peripheral group or from adjacent areas, were observed during that year foraging.
