Russian Orthodox Alexander Nevsky church with brick façade & Three Golden Onion domes built in 1883, Bredgade 53, Copenhagen The Church, dedicated to the Russian patron saint Alexander Nevsk, was built in 1883 as a gift from Tsar Alexander III to mark his marriage to Princess Dagmar of Denmark. The church was designed by Russian architect David Ivanovich Grimm and the design was executed by Danish architect Albert Nielsen under supervision of Ferdinand Meldahl. The facade is of red and grey bricks with sandstone ornamentations and three gold onion-domes top the gable facing the street. In a niche above the bells, is an icon of Alexander Nevsky, the church's patron saint, by artist Fyodor Bronnikov
