The Yendeen cattle are the purest of the breed calledParthenay; indeed, the Yendeens rather complain thatwriters will persist in calling their stock Parthenay, andno race in France has had more honour from artists andauthors. The beautiful colour of the well-cared-forportion of the breed; its coat shining with careful groom-ing ; the large, full, soft eye like that of a deer, fringedwith a soft, pearly down, and surrounded by a dark rimlike a pair of spectacles; the delicate head ; the blackmuzzle, also fringed with the same pearly down, haveattracted the notice of writers who do not look beyondthe beauty of the animal about which they write.
