Catalans carrying the Catalan independence flag and wearing the country's colours as they make a human chain and sing the national anthem on National Catalonia day which is celebrated on September 11th. This year Catalans were called to form a human chain as a political statement about their desire for Independence from Spain. Hundreds of thousands of Catalans and their dogs turned up for the televised event wearing and waving shiny new flags.
