Scottish landscape. Green spleenwort ferns (Asplenium viride) growing with arctic-alpine flora on outcrops of base-rich rocks. This outcrop is on Creag Leek in the eastern Cairngorms, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Other plants include common wild thyme (Thymus polytrichus, purple), yellow mountain saxifrage (Saxifraga aizoides, yellow), and leaves of alpine ladies mantle (Alchemilla alpina). This area is within the Cairngorms National Park. Photographed in August.
