Famous de Havilland DH-88 Comet racer G-ACSS "Grosvenor House" which won the MacRobertson England-Australia Air Race in 1934

The de Havilland Comet G-ACSS "Grosvenor House" is a twin-engined British aircraft which won the 1934 MacRobertson England-Australia Air Race, a challenge for which it was specifically designed. It set many aviation records during the race and afterwards as a pioneer mail plane. Restored to the condition it was in at the time of the race, it is owned and maintained in airworthy condition at the Shuttleworth Trust, OId Warden, Bedfordshire, England, but does not fly from their small grass airfield. In its striking scarlet colours, it is rightly regarded as both an aviation and design classic. It is the sole survivor of the three aircraft built, although replicas are under construction elsewhere in the world.
