A Red-billed Scimitar Babbler drinking from a forest pool in North East Thailand

This image of the Red-billed Scimitar-Babbler was taken in the remote Phu Suan Sai National Park in North East Thailand close to the border with Laos. It was part of a small group of birds coming to a pool in a largely dried up stream bed in a predominantly bamboo forest. At the same time a group of White-hooded Babblers also came for bathing and these two species obviously get on well together. It is a species of bird in the Timaliidae family and is found in China, India, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland and montane forests.
