An old (1933) vintage photograph showing the Bonnie Prince Charlie monument Glenfinnan ( at Loch Shiel Scotland.) Soon before the Battle of Culloden, Prince Charles Edward Stuart raised his father’s Standard at Glenfinnan, marking the start of the 1745 Jacobite campaign. This 18 meters high monument with a lone kilted highlander on top was built here in 1815,as a memorial to the clansmen who gave their lives to the Jacobite cause. There is now a modern visitor centre also and a railing is provided around the clansman figure.
