First humans. Some scientists think this is the earliest evidence of humans. It is about million years old and belongs to the species Homo rudolfensis (which is sometimes included in Homo habilis). It has a bigger brain but retains the flat face and big teeth of the australopithecines. Stone tools of the same age have also been discovered, but not at the same site as this fossil.
