Courtyard of Jeronimos Monastery in Lisbon. This building is an example of Manueline or Portuguese Late Gothic architecture . Built in1502 on the site of a hermitage founded by Prince Henry the Navigator. The explorer Vasco da Gama and his crew spent their last night in Portugal in this location before setting off for the East Indies. The tombs of Vasco Da Gama and many other important individuals can be found within.
