He was placed in the room occupiedby the admirals domestics, and his comrades werenot allowed to see him. Several of these who had solong shared distress and misfortune with him, andbelieved in him as one inspired, were aroused to thegreatest indignation at such an unnatural and cruelattack. Instinctively they saw signs of gilt inthe sinister countenances of Pedro Ledesma andDiego de Porras, but this was forgotten in the joythat the end of their long sufifering was at hand.
