Mexican amazonas from an escaramuza team ride in the opening parade of the National Charro Championship in Pachuca, Mexico
Mexican amazonas from an escaramuza team ride in the opening parade of the National Charro Championship in Pachuca, Hidalgo State, Mexico, November 4, 2010. Escaramuzas are similar to US rodeos, where female competitors called "Amazonas" wear long skirts, and ride side saddle. Male rodeo competitors are "Charros," from which comes the word "Charreria." Charreria is Mexico's national sport.
