Endoscopy training. Doctor (right) using a model (seen on operating table) to train a medical student in endoscopy. The student is using a gastroscope, an endoscope used to examine the upper digestive system. An endoscope is a flexible fibre optic tube mounted on a camera. The tube can have tools on the end. The endoscope tube has been inserted into the mouth of the model, and down into the stomach. The fibre optic tube is sending back the picture seen on the monitor (upper right), which allows a doctor to diagnose stomach disorders. This hospital is part of England's National Health Service (NHS). Photographed at St Richard's Hospital, Chichester, West Sussex, England.
