His father cameto this country in 1840 and located at War-ren, his mother following a year later. Inthe spring of 1850 the family came to Wis-consin, and settled in the town of Spring-vale, Columbia county, where the fatherbought wild land for a farm at three dollarsand fifty cents an acre. He died on his farmin 1877 at the age of seventy-four. He wasjustice of the peace for twenty years inSpringvale, though he was never an activepolitician. Hisfather, Andrew Scott, hved and died on -xfarm in county Tyrone, Ireland. Mrs. JaneScott died in Rio in 1882 at the age of sev-enty-seven. Her father. William Kennedy,was a soldier in the British army, and died intlie service. She was reared hy an uncle,Sanuicl McKenna. She was the mother often children, six of whom were born in Ire-land : Samuel died in Springvale, aged sev-enty years; Alary Jane is the wife of CharlesDowd, and has livetl in Wyocena township,Columbia county, on the same farm since1848: \\illiam is at Ellendale, North Da-kota: Joseph, Staceyville, Iowa; John, El-lendale, North Dakota; James, Oakes, NorthDakota; Kennedy, the subject of this arti-cle; Lydia Ann, Mrs. James H.
