Three Somali women dressed in a hijab and a man walk past a disused war-torn building in downtown Mogadishu. By October 2011 visible signs that everyday economic life and normality had began to return to Mogadishu were there for all to see. This had only become possible with the AMISOM offensive that had pretty much cleared Mogadsihu of Al-Shabab. From a tiny area around Aden Ade International Airport in Mogadishu, AMISOM forces have slowly pushed Al-Shabaab back and now control most of the capital city. But 20 years of civil war had not only destroyed the people of Somalia, it had destroyed the entire infrastructure network Mogadishu too and left deep scars on the nation as a whole.
