In this car having no centersills the WHOLE load mustbe carried on the SIDE GIRDERS, giving 84,000 lbs. for eachgirder. Maximum moment for one girder equals 3,530,000 inch lbs. For one side girder counting 6 inches of the outstandingfloor plate as acting with the girder S. equals 320 for the topportion and 361 for the bottom. ,000 divided by 320 equals lbs., extreme topfiber stress. ,000 divided by 361 equals 9,800 lbs., extreme bottomfiber stress. In this car we have the same conditions of floor plate fortransmission of the buffing stresses to the car sides, as inthe other two cars.
