Large Yellow Belgian, This variety attains the same length as the White Belgian, but does not equal it in diameter, which is only about one-sixth of its length. The root grows about one-quarter of its entire length above the surface, and this portion is of a deep green color, while the portion growing below the surface is of a pale orange color. Cows fed on carrots, alternately with mangels and ruta bagas, give a notably increased yield of milk. In feeding, the roots should be washed, sliced and heavily dusted with Indian meal or bran, together with a proper proportion of salt.
