Random Comments Dear Editor: At times articles are written which implythat the nurse of 20 years ago is necessarilyold-fashiooed; that she is not modem inher outlook, vital or ready to accept newideas. In the April isue The Impact ofChange was a most interesting article butonce again the new was evident I sugrgest that any intelligent woman withan alert mind, who is practising her profes-sion, will absorb new concepts just as readilyas the younger nurse; perhaps in some casesmore readily, for she has grown wisdomwith the years and has learnt tolerance forthe ideas of others ! I regret very much the tendency to re-gard her as a passing ship. For in additionto the scientific knowledge gained throughconstant practice she has a basic knowledgeof the old concept of nursing as nursing,and may very well combine the old gracious-ness with the new technical skills. Further-more, if she is a gracious woman, and surelya nurse should be just this, she may inspirethe younger nurse with her idealis
