It was in 1990s a dispute between Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and Manila City Hall about the development of this historical site that lead to its abandonment. It was in June of 2010 with the president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, at that time, and city mayor Alfredo Lim try to re-opened it again after extensive restoration but after a while it was left abandoned again. Now GSIS sold the building to National Commission for Culture and the Arts of the Philippines (NCCA) and the clean-up drive will continue until June. By the June engineers and architects will begin working on the building restoring it back to its glory. (Photo by George Buid / Pacific Press)
