The New Bedford CordageCompany was established in 1842by Joseph Ricketson, William , and Benjamin S. Rotch,and in January, tour years later,it was incorporated by a specialcharter trom the Commonwealth,with a capital of $60,000. This -amount was increased in 1849 to ^ |l$75,000.
