Marine Corps Cpl. Patrick Lobitz, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) K9 handler and native of Neosho, Miss., arrives aboard the USS Bataan (LHD 5) with his military working dog Jony, off the East Coast, during the Amphibious Ready Group/MEU exercise, Oct. 26, 2013. ARG/MEU Ex is the second stage of the MEU’s at-sea period. The MEU is scheduled to deploy in early 2014 to the 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group as a sea-based, expeditionary crisis response force capable of conducting amphibious missions across the full range of military operations.
